The HamSet Project

Welcome.

I’m Alessandro, IU2IBU, a ham radio operator and the founder of HamSet.

This project started at the operating position, during long contest hours. The issue was simple: discomfort, fatigue, and a headset that did not offer the right balance of comfort, isolation and usability. I set out to find a solution for myself.

I discovered the Bose QC25 thanks to my right-hand man, Stefano IK2QEI. This model has been out of production for years, and Bose no longer offers a headset without Bluetooth. I source QC25 units from the used market, refurbish them one by one, and use them as the base for HamSet.

I developed a dedicated microphone system for ham radio, based on a dynamic element for better RF immunity and consistent performance in real contest conditions. The boom integrates cleanly with the original headset, using a single cable that carries both audio and microphone signal without interference.
Each headset is built and tested by hand. Nothing is mass-produced.

Testing moved from my station to real contest environments such as II2S, CN3A and K3LR, where the system proved itself.

Today, HamSet headsets are used by some of the top contesters around the world, and I’m really proud of that.
Enjoy the products. If you have any questions, just let me know.

Alessandro, IU2IBU
